Costa Tropical is the coast of Granada. The origin denomination of the custard apple of Costa Tropical , includes Nerja, that for the kindness of its climate and the nature of its lands allows the cultivation of quality subtropical fruits.
Costa Tropical , begins to be distinguished inside Costa del Sol, by the middle of the 60, coinciding with the tourist awakening of the area.
The main towns of Costa Tropical are: Motril, Almunecar and Salobreña, although they exist other towns that highlight, equally as tourist destinations of sun and beach.
At the moment Costa Tropical contemplates its future as tourist destination with resolved and founded optimism.
This privileged part of Andalusia, it has been known how to preserve of the town-planning blast that marked other destinations definitively, especially of the area of Costa del Sol and although the foreseen growth is really important, it is surely the experience the one that, probably will give us fruit a sustainable mature tourism.
Anyway, the immediate ones and those already executed improvements in the system of communications and specially by road, they are creating some expectations encouraging.
They are several financial groups with important interests and projects in the area, that in next 10 years it will see a considerable increase of beds of hotels of all the categories.
Costa Tropical is also an important destination in other sectors of the tourism, as the rural tourism, the cultural tourism and the ative one.
The history of these lands is old as the man, with sites dated from the Paleolithic to any historical time, being specially important the presences Phoenician, Roman and Arab, that you/they have left us a cultural important legacy.
